5 MAY - NORTHAMPTON 0 WALSALL 3
Brett Angell scored a second-half hat-trick as the Saddlers completed their league fixtures with their third win in 8 days. Walsall will now face Stoke City in the playoffs, Stoke making sure of fifth place with a comfortable 4-1 win over Swindon. The first leg will be played at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday May 13 and the return leg will be at Bescot on Wednesday May 16. No word yet as to whether HK Cable TV will be taking this game!!!
Bournemouth, coming into the last day of the season on the back of a great run, missed out on moving into the final playoff place when they conceded an equaliser to Reading in the last 2 minutes of a game in which they had been 3-1 up. Wigan held on to sixth place with a 0-0 draw against Bristol City.

3 MAY - PORT VALE 0 WALSALL 2
The Saddlers made sure of their playoff place with second-half strikes from Don Goodman and Andy Tillson against a Vale side who were playing their third game in four days. Goodman combined with strike-partner Jorge Leitao before firing across Vale keeper Dean Delaney and into the far corner on 50 minutes. Defender Andy Tillson added a second in the 68th minute from a cross by Fitzroy Simpson. Tillson made no mistake from six yards. Jorge was unlucky to have a shot cleared off the line in between these goals when he produced an excellent solo run and shot that had Delaney beaten.
The result means the Saddlers can relax in their final game against Northampton, having made sure of fourth place in the table. Who will they play? Stoke, Wigan or Bournemouth?

28 APRIL - WALSALL 2 BRISTOL ROVERS 1
The Saddlers got off to a great start, going a goal up within the first six minutes. A quick free-kick was cut back in the box towards Pedro Matias who side-footed home from close range. Only four minutes later Walsall went 2-0 up, with Don Goodman getting his first goal for the Saddlers. Andy Thomson was caught in possession, allowing Jorge Leitao to pick up the ball and lay a cross into the path of Goodman who tapped home. Though Walsall had their chances to put the result beyond doubt and improve their GD (which could still come into play next week), it was Rovers who scored next. Deep into second-half injury time, a series of errors in the Walsall back line let Kevin Gall in and then Nathan Ellington was on hand to fire home a late consolation.
Despite the three points, Walsall's place in the playoffs is still not certain. Stoke, Wigan and Bournemouth all won. Rotherham scored in the 90th minute for the umpteenth time this season to clinch promotion and condemn Reading to the playoffs. Nothing now for them to play for against Bournemouth on the last day of the season. So we still need 1 point from 2 games. Millwall fans enhanced their suspect reputation, stopping their match against Wrexham several times before the Lions managed a 1-1 draw.
